The Lycian Way

Duration: 11 Days / 10 Nights
Highlights: Istanbul, Antalya, Goynuk, Cirali, Olympos, Adrasan
Departure Dates: Operates between March to October, *weather conditions permitting in the Antalya Region
Note: Use the below itinerary as an outline, you may omit or add other attractions you have in mind. Subject to availability, advance booking required.

Day 01 : Istanbul Arrival
Upon arrival to Istanbul Ataturk Airport & clearing customs, you will be met by one of our staff at the exit gate of arrivals hall & accompanied during your transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 02 : Istanbul to Antalya by flight
After breakfast & some free time in Istanbul, transfer to Istanbul Airport for Istanbul to Antalya flight. Transfer to Goynuk upon arrival for overnight stay.

Day 03 : Kuzdere
Today we walk through Goynuk gorge up to Kuzdere. We start from the pathway of an ancient transportation track (that used to be one of the important commercial trade routes within Lycia). We walk up the beautiful gorge through pine forests that often open up with spectacular views. We have one river crossing (dry in the autumn) but in the spring there is the chance to swim or paddle across. 6-7 hours walking – 18 km.

Day 04 : Olympos
Gedelme to Mt Olympos base camp – Near Gedelme there are the ruins of a Genoese Castle, combined with a forest walk & an ancient Oak tree over 2000 years old this gives you the attraction of the peaceful & pine smelling track. After 8 km we walk up to an altitude of 1100 metres where the start zone of cedar & juniper trees dominates the hills. The whole area gives us a great opportunity to explore the fascinating endemic richness of flora of the region especially during the spring months. 5-6 hours walking – 16 km.

Day 05 : Cirali
A very early start for those opting to climb Mt Olympos (2650 m). The climb is worth every step as at the summit ridge the views along the coast are breathtaking. In the early season the summit is dependent on the weather, but all being well we will start at 05.00 & those opting for just going over the ridge will start a couple of hours later. From the saddle the descent to Beycik is on a mule path & from Beycik we transfer to our pension in Cirali. 6-7 hours walking – 16 km.

Day 06 : Cirali
This is a free day to relax & enjoy the long sandy beach at Cirali. In the evening there is an optional trek to the Eternal Flame at the Chimaera (2 hours) followed by dinner in a beachside restaurant.

Day 07 : Adrasan
We start the day exploring the ruins at Olympos, which was one of the most important cities in the Lycian Union. We then climb overgrown hairpins, over the saddle of Musa Dag (Moses Mountain). We descend in to Adrasan on an old mule trail through the forest & past deserted farm houses. 5 hours – 15 km.

Day 08 : Antalya
Walking today starts off on a rocky footpath through the pine forest for about 1 hour. This section is uphill but you are rewarded for your efforts by fantastic sea views on your left at the top. We continue undulating until we reach a point with views of Geldonia lighthouse. The last 4 km is downhill until we actually reach the lighthouse. We transfer you back to Antalya after the walk. Upon arrival check in to hotel at historical Kaleici quarter. 6-7 hours – 19 km.

Day 09 : Antalya
Free day at leisure. If you are feeling active, after a short walk from your hotel you will reach the restaurants & bars area, each combine delicious meals with a stunning environment where you can find entertainment to suit most tastes. Other places which are at a walking distance; Hadrianus Gate from the time of Roman Emperor Hadrian, Clock Tower, Palm Street, Old Town with Marina, Republican Square will be the perfect introduction to Antalya on the Mediterranean Sea, an area known as the Turquoise Coast.

Day 10 : Antalya to Istanbul flight
After breakfast, check out & transfer to Antalya Airport for Istanbul flight. Overnight in Istanbul.

Day 11 : Istanbul Departure
Free day at leisure. Transfer to Istanbul Ataturk Airport International Terminal for homebound flight.
